Film Review: Deadpool 2

I love anything that causes me to say "hmmm... how can I make that?!"
Our Rating

The Merc with the Mouth is back in an action-packed, edge-of-your-seat, gratuitously violent, wholly irreverent, surprisingly moving, and predictably hilarious sequel.

If you’ve been under a rock and have managed to miss the pervasive (hey… in this case, that means two things) promotion of the film—which we will talk about in a moment, here is the quick synopsis:

Foul-mouthed mutant mercenary Wade Wilson (AKA. Deadpool), brings together a team of fellow mutant rogues to protect a young boy of supernatural abilities from the brutal, time-traveling mutant, Cable. – IMDb

With the return of the red suit wearing mercenary, comes the entire cast of characters we loved from the first film, with a delightfully fun addition of so many more—Josh Brolin absolutely kills it as Cable, btw. I promise not to give anything away in terms of spoilers, but if you are a Marvel fan, there are a few noteworthy moments. If the first movie had you balancing the line of side-splitting one-liners and stomach-churning violence, then buckle up for what proved to be pushing those limits of the ‘R’ rating even further.

The movie took me on quite a ride. I laughed (a lot), my heart raced, and I felt some real emotions. Though I would NOT recommend this movie for everyone!

The excitement for this movie starting building months ago as the marketing wizards put their magic to work, literally inserting Deadpool into just about every 20th Century Fox film from the last 20 years (sold exclusively at Walmarts around the nation). The unique comedic flair of front-man Ryan Reynolds lends itself well into the fourth-wall breaking shenanigans of Mr. Pool. Other marketing components involve dressing up as Bob Ross and a short love story with David Beckham.
